Skaldor

The objective was to build a brand from scratch for a Norwegian insurance company specializing in premium insurance for VIPs and travel influencers. The scope of work included naming, branding, and key visual development.

Research & Naming

The Skaldor name originates from the Old Norse word "skald", which was given to poets, chroniclers, and traveling storytellers during the Viking era. These skalds served as guardians of history, recounting great journeys and heroic deeds. Just like modern digital nomads, they documented their discoveries and experiences.

Skaldor symbolizes the protection of their unique stories, allowing them to explore the world fearlessly and inspire others.

Runic 'A' in Nordic Symbolism – The Visual Concept

In the Nordic runic alphabet, the letter "A" corresponds to the Ansuz rune, which holds profound meaning in Norse mythology:

  • Inspiration
  • Communication
  • Knowledge
  • Wisdom

These qualities align perfectly with the brand’s archetype. Although the runic "A" resembles the Latin letter "F", we simplified and adapted it to create a distinctive "A" symbol in the logo, drawing broader inspiration from runic script.
